A sunset ride on Stockdill Drive is one of the best things you can do. The road suddenly ends, which discourages traffic. Apart from a farm or two, nobody lives there. You will pass the Woodstock Nature Reserve and Shepherd Lookout along the way – a lot to see in just 3.4 km.
Stockdill Drive is very popular with road cyclists because of the magnificent views of both the Molonglo and Murrumbidgee Valleys.
Eventually you will reach the Molonglo River Reserve. From here you could walk to Scrivener Dam. Riding the valley is impossible, as a continuous management trail along the entire length of the valley is missing.
The end of the road is just 3.4 km from Strathnairn. After a short rise, the road drops slowly into the valley with a maximum gradient of 10%. You will be riding back up this hill. Aranda hill from Glenloch Interchange is about 8% in comparison and shorter.
