Denman Prospect is a new suburb of the Molonglo Valley. Last year the new park and playground was opened before a single house had been built. That has all changed. The playground has become very popular. The residents of Coombs, Wright and Denman Prospect could easily ride to this park – if the kids were up to it 😊
The area
Molonglo Valley is a new area and many of the bike paths in the area are yet to be completed. Add to this that the park is on the top of the hill and it is clear that it is not the easiest place to get to for tiny tots. The suburb of Molonglo will be built towards the river. Many of these things are discussed elsewhere on canberra.bike. The playground is so good, and the views so beautiful, it is worth a visit.

Getting there
The community paths in Denman Prospect are wide and of good quality. The street system is a grid, so a street is either across the hill or up it. On the north and south sides of the ridge, the uphill paths are steep. Riding to the west end and then along the ridge may be longer but easier.
The coloured map below (isochrone) shows the ride distance from the park. Each ring is 1km distance. The green ring is within 1km from the playground. Stromlo Forest Park is about 3km away and Coombs also. One day this park will be in the middle of everything.

The playground
The playground has water, seating and cover plus magnificent views of the Molonglo Valley. There are no toilets, picnic or BBQ facilities. The closest shops are in Denman Prospects. Car parking is limited but next to the playground.
