Namadgi National Park has not been mentioned much yet on canberra.bike. After the fires, it has remained closed. The northern and southern tips of the park are now opening again.
Bikes are permitted on management trials in the Namadgi National Park. These are on the maps but most people would be unfamiliar with the names. The walking trails are better known but you cannot ride them. The walking trails are the canary in the coal mine. If the walk is open the trails in that a area will be too.
Getting to the Namadgi National Park is tricky. There is no bus service to the visitors centre. Belconnen to Orroral Valley and back is over 100km. Too far for mere mortals to ride. For those living in the far south it is a more attractive option. Cotter River and the forests behind are much closer, and the gravel just as good. See Komoot for ride options.
The northern section of Namadgi National Park is now open. More information here.
“Areas such as Gibraltar Falls, Corin Dam, Settlers Walking Track and Square Rock are now open, but the Visitor Information Centre and other areas remain closed as fire recovery work continues.”Popular walking trails re-open in Namadgi, City News, accessed 27/7/2020
