Optimal routes are rare, but there are better routes. People have different cycling preferences. Road riding and off-road cycling are found here. Road lanes and bike paths may not be continuous but there is usually enough to make a worthwhile route.
Riding on the bike path is shorter than riding on the road but slower. Getting around Lake Ginninderra is a problem. The path through John Knight Park on the east side of the lake is narrow, has blind corners and is popular with walkers. Those that enjoy riding fast on the road are better off on the west side and avoiding Emu Bank.

The maps and routes are available on Komoot. The routes may differ to the official CBR Cycle Routes (that have grown historically). The routing algorithm and travel time estimates are derived from Komoot using standard settings. Komoot is available as a website and smartphone app. Komoot can be used for free. It is worthwhile creating an account. The map data is from OpenStreetMap.
