FOI 21-023 2021 Estimates: Belconnen Bikeway

The 2021 Estimates for ACT Transport were held before the Standing Committee On Planning, Transport And City Services on the 4 March 2021. The significance of Freedom of Information request (FOI) 21-023 is that it provides more detail information than the Transcript Of Evidence from the 2021 Estimates. This is a subtle but important difference. The notes include interesting information about Belconnen Bikeway and more.

Belconnen Bikeway: finished in part

The construction of the Belconnen Bikeway started last year and some progress has been made. The separated bike and pedestrian paths along the old bus road are finished but not open. Construction has started on Emu Bank. The section through the University of Canberra is largely finished.

New Belconnen Bikeway expected late 2020

Canberra Arts Centre is finished and the new Belconnen Bikeway underway, however, we are not out of the woods yet. The bigger issue is reduced project scope. When we first hear of projects they can sound quite grand. After the initial first planning phase, they seem a little less ambitious.
