Gravel riding in the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve and the adjacent Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve. A very popular spot for gravel riding – the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve and the adjacent Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve.
The Canberra Nature Park reserves seem to be endless, and the view is obstructed by the forest and hills. The management trails and paths meander their way around the hills. This network of trails and paths has grown historically. There is a surprise around every corner.
Throsby, Gungahlin, has an excellent bike path and views of the Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve. This was an enjoyable loop ride to Throsby from Belconnen. Throsby has good bike infrastructure. The route is roundabout but along good bike paths, and all major road crossings are at signal intersections.
The list of missing links is long: route and tracks that could be opened for recreational biking. We can thank the Canberra Centennial Trial for opening a lot of the ACT commonwealth land for recreational use. Majura Pines to Kowen Forest is not far as the crow flies but the Majura Military Training Area blocks the way.
