Mount Majura: highest of the city peaks

Mount Majura Road is an interesting CAT 3 hill climb. Going up is a fitness challenge. Going down the Mineshaft Descent is a challenge for the nerves. If you like hills this is a good ride. Mount Majura is part of Canberra Nature Park.

Active Travel Infrastructure Interim Planning Guideline (PATACT)

For a strategy to be implemented, the vague ambition must be specified in detail. To plan and build a bike path, urban planning practitioners need a specification. An introduction to Planning for Active Travel in the ACT: Active Travel Infrastructure Interim Planning Guideline.

Dickson Majura Gungahlin loop

A very pretty ride from Belconnen to Majura Pines, returning via Gungahlin. Majura Pines is a great destination. With a gravel bike or mountain bike, it is an easy ride from Dickson along Blue Metal Road through Mount Majura Nature Reserve. A longer route back is to follow the bike path along Majura Parkway and return via Gungahlin.

Majura Pines to Kowen Forest

The list of missing links is long: route and tracks that could be opened for recreational biking. We can thank the Canberra Centennial Trial for opening a lot of the ACT commonwealth land for recreational use. Majura Pines to Kowen Forest is not far as the crow flies but the Majura Military Training Area blocks the way.
